Geoduck is harvested through a highly regulated process that is overseen and managed by the Underwater Harvesters Association (UHA). UHA has developed a series of best practices for sustainable harvesting of geoduck, including size and depth restrictions, providing gear to minimize impacts from the harvest, and monitoring harvest sites to ensure that geoduck populations are allowed to recover after being harvested. UHA also works to support the fishermen who harvest geoduck as well as the communities that rely on the fishery.
